The Solitaire LeGrand fountain pen in translucent blue lacquer with dégradé finish represents the first part of the journey. The protagonists travel on a steamship from London to Bombay, crossing the Mediterranean Sea and the Suez Canal. The cap and body feature iconic elements from the novel: sea waves, card suits and a cartridge with a laser-engraved steamship design. The top of the cap features embossing of the duration of the trip, 18 days from London to Bombay and 80 days in total. The writing instrument is complemented by a handmade 18 K gold nib in two-tone rhodium and champagne finish, decorated with a hot air balloon and the start and end dates of the adventurous journey.
