The Meisterstück Around the World in 80 Days collection is inspired by Jules Verne’s famous adventure novel Around the World in 80 Days. The Classique fountain pen in fine anthracite resin draws inspiration from the second leg of the journey, from Bombay to Yokohama. In this second adventurous stage, the protagonists travel on a majestic elephant, which appears in a cartouche on the hood. The clip sports a red lacquered ace of diamonds, a symbol of card playing and gambling, and the cone is engraved with a motif inspired by Princess Auda’s jewels and card suits. The top of the cap features embossing of the duration of the trip, 25 days from Bombay to Yokohama and 80 days in total. The writing instrument is complemented by a handmade 18K gold nib, decorated with a hot air balloon and bearing the dates 20/10 and 14/11: Fogg does, in fact, leave Bombay on Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. and Yokohama on Nov. 14 at 6 p.m.
