This limited edition fountain pen from the Montblanc Patron of Art series is dedicated to the brutal leader of the Aztecs who ruled from 1440-1469, Moctezuma I. The meaning behind his name, “he is as angry as a lord,” fits his character. The period in which he ruled was seen as the golden age of the Aztec empire, a time when mythology and culture were at their peak. This flourished especially in Tenochtitlรกn, which we now know as Mexico City, the capital and heart of Mexico. Even today, the flourishing culture of the above period is considered one of the most special cultures in world history. The pen features golden champagne-colored accents reflecting the golden age. These golden accents combine together to create the shape of an alatl, a spear specific to Aztec culture. The lower ends of the pen show an Obsedian knife, an Aztec sacrificial knife. In addition, the body consists of a petrol blue and carmine red lacquer design. The colors represent the leader’s royal cloak, and the two hyrogliefs on the cap represent the years when Montezuma was head of the Aztec empire. The solid gold nib is decorated with an engraving of the symbol of Tenochtitlรกn. This exists of a cactus, a king’s tiara and two scrolls. The pen is limited to 4810 pieces that are representative of the height of Monblanc Mountain, which rises to 4810 meters.
